Resource Efficiency IconResource Efficiency

The design of buildings and properties maximizes the efficient use of environmental and economic resources by minimizing energy, water and material use.

Principles in Action

The newly created, voluntary Heart of America Smart Builder Program, coordinated by the Metropolitan Energy Center, will provide incentives and technical assistance to builders and developers to design and build environmentally-sensitive developments in the residential and commercial areas.

Construction waste recycling saves energy, resources and dollars. In Austin, Texas, these savings are translated into affordable housing.
