Laws of Leadership:
Challenging Organizational Culture

Jack Enter returns to Kansas City to deliver a thought-provoking, challenging lecture on leadership and what it means in today's organization. Law enforcement agencies are faced with immense challenges, both externally and internally. Enter will discuss budget problems, how to find qualified applicants, homeland security issues, dealing with difficult employees and other challenges facing law enforcement managers today.

This seminar will focus on how the law enforcement executive can best create a culture that emphasizes integrity and honesty, both legally and interpersonally. Enter will lead a discussion on why most police managers fail to positively impact their subordinates and therefore fail to create an environment of accountability and professionalism.

Proactive strategies and leadership skills covered include:

  • Self-management.
  • Effective communication.
  • Confronting marginal and problem behaviors.
  • Creating a climate that rewards honest interactions with citizens and with fellow law enforcement managers.

Keynote Speaker:

Jack Enter's criminal justice career began in 1972 when he became a law enforcement officer. Since that time, he has worked as a street police officer, detective, vice/narcotics investigator and as a law enforcement administrator of an Atlanta suburb. Enter completed his doctorate in 1984 and has worked as a professor and administrator in a university setting. He served as director of information and education for the governor's Criminal Justice Coordinating Council in the state of Georgia.

He was a research associate assigned to planning security for the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta. Enter is the author of "Challenging the Law Enforcement Organization: Proactive Leadership Strategies."
