Last year, the Mid-America Regional Council’s Water Quality Education Committee published a series of videos that illustrate how our water quality is affected by things that go down our storm drains, such as litter, lawn chemicals, pet waste and cigarette butts. Each of these videos featured an animated character shaped like a water droplet. The videos have been popular and we plan to use this character in more videos and educational materials — but our water drop character needs a name! Contest Details The Name the Droplet Contest invites students from kindergarten through fifth grade to help us select a name for the star of our animated videos. Students can submit name ideas individually or as a class. Teachers are welcome to work with their students to generate ideas. You can help your classroom win $500 toward a water quality focused field trip or educational materials. Each classmate will receive a rain gauge, pet waste dispenser and portable litter bag. But first, you must enter the competition. Follow the rules below… How to Enter the Contest Individual students or classes can submit their ideas by completing the online entry form at www.cleanwaterkcmetro.org. If you or your classroom decides to participate, please follow these simple guidelines:
In addition to winning a field trip or classroom supplies, you get to name the water droplet for the regional Water Quality Program!
