ICS-400: Advanced Incident Command System, the final course in the four-part series, provides training on the advanced resource management requirements of the Incident Command System (ICS). Prerequisites: Successful completion of accredited ICS-100, ICS-200 and ICS-300.

Course Objectives:

  • Describe how Unified Command functions during a multi-jurisdiction,
    multi-agency incident.
  • Explain issues that influence incident complexity and the tools available for analyzing an incident.
  • Describe the responsibilities of agency representatives, their reporting relationships and how they can be used effectively during an incident.

ICS 400Who should attend:

  • Command staff
  • Section chiefs
  • Strike-team, task force and
    unit leaders
  • Division/group supervisors
  • Branch directors
  • Multi-agency coordination system/emergency
    operations staff


IMPORTANT: Priority registration is reserved for emergency services personnel in the nine-county Kansas City metropolitan area: Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte and Ray counties in Missouri and Leavenworth, Johnson, Miami and Wyandotte counties in Kansas. Due to grant requirements, we are not able to accept registrations from outside the states of Kansas or Missouri. If you are from outside the nine-county Kansas City region please contact your local emergency manager for details on emergency services training. Registration is prioritized based on the NIMS training program requirements released in June 2011. Advanced ICS 300 and ICS 400 classroom courses are designed for local, field-level emergency response supervisors who lead during Type 1, 2, and 3 incidents and serve as command staff, section chiefs or unit leaders in an emergency response organization.
